Celebrity Silhouette Overview
The Celebrity Silhouette is one of five in the cruise line's luxurious Solstice class, and the second-largest in the fleet. Like all Solstice ships, she effortlessly combines sophisticated elegance with playful fun. She splits her time between Europe and the Caribbean, and is popular with upper-middle class couples and groups looking to enjoy a holiday in the sun. The average age of cruisers is in the mid-50s, except during school holidays when the vessel attracts more families with young children.
The Celebrity Silhouette specs
Launched in July 2011, the Celebrity Silhouette was the fourth of the Solstice ships to set out to sea, followed only by Celebrity Reflection. She weighs 122,400 tonnes, measures 1,047 feet in length and has a cruising speed of 24 knots. She can accommodate a maximum of 2,886 guests.
Inside the Celebrity Silhouette
Elegant, contemporary and tasteful - these are three words that could be used to describe the Celebrity Silhouette's interior decor. From glistening chandeliers to smooth marble, guests will find more than a touch of luxury in every room.
Of particular note is the ship's impressive art collection. Worth millions of dollars, this custom-curated assortment brings together stunning traditional pieces with interactive, modern displays.
Several of the public spaces look like a work of art themselves, having been designed to make the most of the natural light wherever possible. Like her sister vessels, the Celebrity Silhouette draws inspiration from the sun, so glass is used frequently to maximise sunlight during daytime hours. To complement this, the designers have added several green areas, such as the Lawn Club on Deck 15.
Things to do on board the Celebrity Silhouette
This large vessel has a fun, convivial atmosphere both day and night, with many activities taking place all around the ship. You will find all of the traditional cruise games, such as bingo and golf putting, as well as a range of activities unique to the Solstice class, like Apple computer courses at the iLounge Internet Cafe.
The Celebrity Silhouette places a particular emphasis on relaxation, with multiple venues to sit back and watch the day go by. The Canyon Ranch DaySpa is excellent, as are the Alcoves - private cabana-style huts located just off the Lawn Club.
Celebrity Silhouette restaurants and bars
The dining venues on board are in-line with the ship's overall atmosphere of 'relaxed sophistication'. While there are a few fine dining establishments, most of the specialty restaurants have a welcoming, laid-back ambience; think plush chairs, al fresco dining, and sensational service. Not to mention the food is delicious!
In the main restaurant, guests can choose to eat at fixed seating times (6pm or 8.30pm), or make the most of the 'Celebrity Select Dining' option (anytime between 6 and 9.30pm). If you wish to eat in a specialty restaurant, it's a good idea to make a reservation.
The bars are also all great places to relax from early afternoon until late in the evening. The Celebrity Silhouette is well-stocked with an impressive array of beverages, from craft beers to fine wines. She is also home to not one, but two cocktail bars - both the Martini Bar and the Molecular Bar are the places to go if you feel like trying a tropical concoction.
Celebrity Silhouette itineraries and shore excursions
The Celebrity Silhouette splits her time between Europe and the Caribbean, so the shore excursions available will depend on your chosen cruise route. Most of the tours in the Caribbean revolve around swimming, snorkeling and days at the beach, while European trips include more cultural activities.
You'll find a wide range of tours to choose from no matter what your destination. Some examples include tasting traditional pizza in Naples, a private sailing trip in San Juan and a Hop-on, Hop-off bus tour in Palma de Mallorca.
Cabins on board the Celebrity Silhouette
With a total of 1,443 cabins across 11 main categories, the Celebrity Silhouette caters to all budgets and preferences. The standard cabins - Interior, Oceanview and Balcony - are excellent affordable options and are all designed with your comfort in mind. These range in size from 178 to 248 square feet and are all equipped with a flatscreen television, hair dryer, safe and ample storage space. There are also 121 interconnecting cabins and 30 wheelchair accessible cabins on board.
The Celebrity Silhouette offers two specialty cabins. Although not quite the size of a suite, the ConciergeClass and AquaClass rooms come with several additional luxuries to make your stay that much better. In ConciergeClass, guests are welcomed with champagne and fresh fruit and are located much higher up the ship. Meanwhile the AquaClass rooms come with free access to the Persian Garden, a concierge to help you arrange treatments at the Canyon Ranch SpaClub, and daily iced tea and canapes.
For a truly luxurious holiday, you can't go past the suites. In the Celebrity Suites, everything is upsized, from the television to the bathroom, but the real highlight is the whirlpool on your balcony. The Penthouse Suites take spacious to a whole new level - you know you're in luxury when you've got your own baby grand piano and marble bathtub! Both suites include additional perks such as butler service and free specialty coffees.

Entertainment on board the Celebrity Silhouette cruise ship
The Celebrity Silhouette by day
As with her sister vessels in the Solstice class, the Celebrity Silhouette is home to a wide range of activities - you'll find all of your traditional cruise games such as bingo, as well as a variety of boutique shops, a library, an internet cafe and a card room.
Most of the activities are relaxed and laid-back, but the CelebrityLife enrichment programme offers several great courses for those seeking some intellectual stimulation, such as cooking lessons, language classes and wine-tasting seminars.
Another excellent feature unique to Solstice ships is the Art Studio. Here you can enjoy a lesson by an expert artist from the renowned ArtCenter in South Florida.
Pools, spas and fitness facilities on board the Celebrity Silhouette
There are two main pool areas on board. The main area is family-friendly with a splash pool for kids, as well as a sports pool for those looking to swim for fitness. There are hot tubs situated throughout. The second pool area is adults-only and located in the Solarium.
Those looking to be pampered will love the Canyon Ranch SpaClub, which offers a wide variety of wellness treatments, from teeth whitening to aromatherapy massage. If you'd prefer to relax without the additional fuss, you'll feel right at home in the Persian Garden - here you'll find a sauna, steam rooms and tropical rain showers.
The fitness centre, also managed by Canyon Ranch, is equipped with cardio machines and free weights and offers several classes, including yoga and cycling. Alternatively, guests can work out at the basketball courts or run a few laps around the jogging track.
Celebrity Silhouette nightlife
One of the best things about going on a Celebrity cruise is the opportunity to see some stellar performances, and in this area the Celebrity Silhouette certainly does not disappoint. The Silhouette Theatre operates a full schedule, with musical shows, opera singers, hip-hop dancers and acrobats all vying to wow the audience. Be sure to check the schedule each night to see who is performing.
Both wine and beer lovers are well-looked after on board. At Michael's, you'll find more than 50 types of craft beer for sale, while at CellarMaster fine wines are dispensed through unique self-service machines. As the night goes on, take your dancing feet to Quasar, the ship's nightclub, or try your luck at the fully-equipped casino.
Celebrity Silhouette for families
Children have their own areas to have fun on board the Celebrity Silhouette; The Fun Factory (for 3 to 11 year olds) and the XClub (for teenagers) are both located near the sports courts. These designated areas include a wide range of age-appropriate games, such as foosball, air hockey, video games and ping-pong.
Parents can also enrol their kids in organised activity programmes, which will keep them entertained from morning through to the early evening (or later, if they decide to join in on the slumber parties). These programmes are split into three different age groups; Shipmates (3-5 year olds), Ensigns (9-11 year olds) and Teens (12-17 year olds).
Celebrity Silhouette offers several additional childcare options; the aforementioned slumber parties run most evenings and cost approximately $6 per hour, while in-cabin babysitting is also available for children aged 12 months or over, at a cost of $8 per hour.
Babies must be at least 6 months for short cruises and 12 months for long trips. Baby food must be ordered at least 30 days before the cruise departs.
