OTHER INFORMATION

It's always a thrill to anticipate a new ship joining Holland America Line's magnificent fleet. But it's especially exciting when that new arrival is the first of a new class of ship. For when the 2,650-passenger ms Koningsdam sets sail in February 2016, she will not only be the first to bear that name, she will usher in a new era of Pinnacle-class cruising.

ABOUT Holland America Line

Holland America invites you to depart the everyday and experience cruising the world, with award-winning service, world-class dining and creative itineraries to enchant you on your next cruise holiday.

With more than 135 years of experience, Holland America Line is recognised as the undisputed leader in the cruise industry's premium segment. With the introduction of the 1,918-passenger ms Noordam in early 2006 and the new Signature Class vessel; the 2,104 passenger ms Eurodam in June 2008; Holland America Line's fleet has grown to 14 ships, offering nearly 500 cruises from more than 25 home ports each year. Itineraries range from two to 108 days and visit all seven continents, including new Australia/New Zealand and Asia sailings, world voyages and popular sailings to several ports in the Caribbean, Alaska, Mexico and Europe.

Holland America Line's $525 million, fleetwide Signature of Excellence enhancements feature new programs and amenities including the Culinary Arts Centre presented by Food & Wine magazine - a state-of-the-art onboard show kitchen where more than 60 celebrated guest chefs and culinary experts will provide cooking demonstrations and classes. Features also include the Explorations Café powered by the New York Times, teens-only activity areas and all new cabin amenities highlighted by flat-panel TVs and plush-top Mariner's Dream Beds.

Main Dining Room

The main Dining Room aboard Koningsdam will span two floors and be framed by views of the sea. A bright interior will be inspired by a modern, global design and sets the stage for the exceptional culinary experience to come. Strong, curved architectural pillars will accentuate the soaring ceiling. Custom furnishings and modern glass lighting are being fabricated especially for the ship.

The centerpiece of the Dining Room is a curved copper sheath surrounding a two-story wine tower that showcases the great breadth of our cellars. From a boutique Walla Walla white wine to a rich red Bordeaux, our great vintages are elevated from the pages of the wine list and made visible, significant, celebrated—a testament to wine’s central place in the enjoyment of food, friends, and life.

“Our guests, many of whom are world travelers, are accustomed to dining in extraordinary restaurants,” notes Michael Smith, Senior Vice President of Marine Hotel Operations at Holland America Line. “We want to keep pace with their expectations, and also, set the stage for the exceptional culinary experience to come.”

Menus in the Dining Room will reflect the latest signature dishes from the influential chefs who comprise our Culinary Council, along with classic favorites, vegetarian options, and regionally inspired cuisine. Guests can choose whether to arrange a pre-set seating and dining time, or to arrive “As You Wish®,” following the desires of the day.

Once you receive your confirmation, please check your details carefully and notify us immediately if there are any incorrect details, as it may not be possible to make changes at a later date without incurring a penalty. If you are booking via phone, please first make sure you have read the terms and conditions. Our reservations consultant will ask you if you have read the terms and agree to them before proceeding. The onus is always on the customer to ensure they make themselves fully aware of the terms displayed on our website.

Information disclosure

In booking on/via this website you acknowledge that we disclose your information to your selected Cruise Ship company/operator.

Amendments

Once you have paid a deposit against your cruise, any changes made to the booking will incur an amendment fee of $50 plus any applicable fees set you by the cruise line. Please see the Cruise Company's terms and conditions for cancellation and amendment policy. All amendments are required to be sent in writing by the lead passenger in the booking. Fare amendments are subject to change until confirmed and paid. Any Name Changes must be completed a minimum 72 hours prior to departure

Transfer to a new cruise/fare

From time to time cruise lines may advertise lower promotional cruise fares; these fares are not always available to existing bookings, however Cruise Republic will endeavour to accommodate any request to change to the lower fare. Please note this request is at the discretion of the cruise lines so is not always possible. New promotional fares may affect your current booking, resulting in reduced on-board credit.

If we are able to transfer you at the lower promotional fare a fee of $100 will be applied to your booking. Once final payment has been made for your cruise we are unable to lower the fare.

If you choose to transfer your cruise deposit to an alternative cruise departure this will also incur a fee of $100.

Cancellations

Once a deposit is made towards your cruise holiday it is deemed that you have accepted our terms and conditions, so are subject to any cancellation fees. Bookings cancelled after the deposit is paid, will incur a cancellation fee of $200 per cabin plus any additional cancellation fees set out by the cruise line. There are no cool down periods. Please see the Cruise Company's terms and conditions for cancellation and amendment policy. All cancellations are required to be sent in writing by the lead passenger in the booking. Due to the issuing of refunds via Cheque by the cruiselines, refunds can take 4-6 weeks to reach us should you be entitled to any refund.

Payments

Payments towards your cruise holiday made by credit cards are subject to a transaction fee of 1.5% for Visa and Mastercard payments. Payments made by domestic bank deposit do not incur any transaction fees nor do payments made using the BPAY payment system. Please be aware payments made via bank deposit or BPAY within 24 hours of your booking expiring will require a legitimate receipt/screen shot of payment emailed through.

Flights and Hotels

Flights and Accommodation cancellation fees and amendment fees will apply as set out by the airlines and hotels. An additional $50 per person cancellation fee applies to all hotel cancellations and flight cancellations. All fly/cruise packages are based on the best available flight and hotel at time of pricing and while we may not be able to get the exact airline or hotel we will book a similar acceptable option. Flight packages will all include a free checked baggage allowance and meals.

Onboard Credits

On selected departures we will offer you onboard credits & these may not be combinable with all cabin categories and promotions. We will send you through a confirmation which will confirm if the onboard credit is available against your booking. Making changes to your reservation could result in any onboard credits being removed. Once you have embarked the ship, the onboard credit will be applied to your onboard account to use towards any onboard purchases. Any unused portion of the Onboard Credit will expire at midnight on the last night of your cruise and is not redeemable for cash at any time.

'Guarantee' (GTY) Bookings

From time to time, we may offer you the option of making what we call a 'Guarantee (GTY) booking. This means you may book a stateroom of a guaranteed category type (Inside, Outside, Balcony) on your chosen ship and cruise. However, the exact grade, number and location of the stateroom on the ship will be allocated at the cruise lines discretion and at any time until checking in at the Port. Once your GTY stateroom has been allocated to you, we are unable to accept any changes requested by you. The benefits of a GTY stateroom are that after your booking has been confirmed, the cruise line may (at their discretion) upgrade your stateroom to a higher classed category to that originally booked at no extra charge to you. In any event, you are 'guaranteed' the minimum category you decide to book at the time of the cruise including obstructed view cabins.
If travelling with Family and Friends where you require cabins to be near one another we strongly recommend for you not to book on a Guarantee.
We cannot guarantee your cabins will be assigned near one another, on the same deck, same side or forward/aft on the ship nor accept any requests.

Complimentary Upgrades

Depending on any last minute availability the cruise lines will automatically upgrade cabins to higher categories. The upgrades can place you towards the front of the ship, midships or at the back of the ship and not necessarily on a higher deck level (i.e.: Insides Deck 10 may be upgraded to Ocean view Deck 5). As the cruise lines cannot upgrade every booking, you should book a category in which you are happy to sail. Once the upgrade has been assigned, should you dislike the cabin location we are unable to accept any changes or requests and cannot be reversed.
If travelling with family and friends where you require cabins to be near one another we strongly recommend for you to decline the upgrades. The cruise line do not guarantee all of the cabins will be upgraded, or that they will be upgraded near one another.

Future Cruise Credits

While we are happy to apply your Future Cruise Credits from the cruiselines to your booking with us, this may affect your online discounted pricing. We will still do our best to provide competitive pricing based on the discount we can offer on the new cruise fare once the future cruise credits have been applied to your booking. Please note if Future Cruise Credits are applied after your deposit has been paid may affect your final balance.

Passport & Visa Requirements.

or all international cruises all passengers will require to be in possession of a valid passport. The passport must have 6 months validity on your return date back home.
Visa's may also be required and at the sole responsibility of the passenger. Please check with the relevant embassies or a Visa Services company for assistance.

Final payment is due 90 days prior to departure.

It is essential that you make your payments by the due date and in accordance with the type of fare you have purchased. If payment is not received by the due date, bookings will be automatically cancelled and our ‘Cancellation Policy' will apply.

Last Minute Terms and Conditions

Full payment is required at the time of booking. Cabins are on a Guarantee Status therefore no cabin number will be assigned at the time of booking. A cabin number will only be allocated closer to departure by Holland America Cruises.
Please refer to “Guarantee (GTY) Bookings. Fares are not combinable with any onboard credit promotion.
Fare is fully non refundable and non transferable.

Upgrade policy

Holland America reserves the right to upgrade a guest or guests to more expensive category accommodations at no additional cost.

Please also refer to “Complimentary Upgrades” - see above.

Documentation

Cruise documents are prepared in the USA and will be sent to you approximately 21 days prior to sailing. It is most important that all reservations be made in the full passport name of the passengers. An additional Cruise Republic cancellation fee may also be charged.

# Any additional fees charged by airlines, hotels or transfer providers due to changes or cancellations, will also be passed onto the passengers.

Given that the resale of cancelled space will likely result in a lost opportunity to sell other space, these fees are due regardless of resale. Fees incurred as a result of cancellation cannot be applied to future bookings. Refunds will normally be made to your travel professional. Travel professionals may impose their own cancellation fees. Agency fees of any nature are a matter to be decided on solely by the agency and guests.

Name replacements and departure date changes are considered as cancellations and are subject to the cruise cancellation fees plus any travel agency fees.

Hotel Service Charge

Our crew works very hard to make sure that every aspect of your cruise meets the highest standards. This includes those crew members who service you directly, such as dining room wait staff and the stewards who service your stateroom each day. There are also many others who support their efforts whom you may never meet, such as galley and laundry staff. To ensure that the efforts of all of our crew members are recognized and rewarded, a daily Hotel Service charge is automatically added to each guest’s shipboard account. The Hotel Service Charge is USD$12.50 per person per day for all cabin categories except Suite passengers where their gratuities are USD $13.50 per person per day. If your service exceeds or fails to meet your expectations, you are free to adjust this amount at the end of the cruise. The Hotel Service Charge is paid entirely to Holland America Line crew members and represents an important part of their compensation. A 15% service charge is automatically added to bar charges and dining room wine purchases.

Guests under 21

Guests under 21 years of age must be accompanied by a parent, guardian or chaperone that is at least 21 years old; one adult chaperone is required for every five people under the age of 21. Alcoholic beverages will not be served to guests under the age of 21. Due to the limited medical facilities on board, we will not accept reservations for infants 6 months or younger for non-Transocean sailings or 12 months or younger for Transocean sailings at time cruise commences.

Minors under the age of 18 travelling to foreign countries must be accompanied by both parents or have a notarized letter of consent by the parent(s) not travelling.

Fares, Taxes and Surcharges

Once booked, your fare is only subject to any increased taxes, which will be added to the fare or to your on board account.

Holland America reserves the right to reinstate the fuel supplement for all guests up to US$9 per person per day if the price of light sweet crude on the New York Mercantile Exchange (NYMEX) exceeds USD$70 per barrel.

Passports/Visas and Immunisations

Holland America Line do not provide advice regarding passports and/or visas. However all guests are required to carry a passport usually valid for 6 months after disembarking the ship, and any necessary visas. Please contact your nearest consulate for the most up to date information regarding visas. As to immunisations, please check with a travel medicine specialist or local health department for specific recommendations and/or requirements. We recommend the use of www.smartraveller.gov.au for advice in these areas.

Medical Facilities

Each Holland America ship has an onboard Medical Centre staffed by licensed physicians and critical care nurses. While not a full service hospital, the Medical Centre is well equipped to handle most emergencies as well as routine medical procedures.

A customary fee will be charged for services and medications dispensed (with the exception of medicine for seasickness, Tylenol and aspirin which may also be dispensed at the Front Office.

Please note that Medicare and many health insurance plans DO NOT cover the cost of medical care at sea, in foreign countries, or for air evacuation. For this reason guests are encouraged to obtain travel medical insurance prior to travel.

Pregnancy

Due to limited medical facilities on board, we can not accept women who will be 24 or more weeks pregnant at the time of their cruise with Holland America Line concludes. If you are pregnant, please provide a medical note from your physician stating the expected due date, medical fitness to travel and the pregnancy is not high risk. Please also include your name, booking number, ship and sailing date. This must be sent to us (Online Republic) who will forward it onto Holland America on your behalf.

Authority to Deny Transportation, Confine and Remove Passengers:

We may determine that for your safety, the safety of the Ship or other means of transportation or the safety or comfort of other passengers or our employees, you should be denied transportation or other services either before or during the Cruise, Cruise tour or Land Trip. In any such circumstance you may be confined to your stateroom, quarantined, restrained or refused participation in any conduct or activities of any nature without liability to us for a refund, payment or compensation whatsoever. By way of example, these would include situations where: (a) you are or become in such condition as to be unfit to travel or dangerous or obnoxious to other passengers or employees; (b) you are inadmissible under the immigration or other laws of any country included in the Cruise, Cruise tour or Land Trip itinerary or fail at any time to possess required travel documents; or (c) you fail to abide by the rules or orders of the Master or other ship’s officers. If transportation is denied after departure, you and your baggage may be landed or transported to any port or location that we select, without any resulting liability for refund, payment, compensation or credit on our part. If you are disembarked or any other actions are taken for any reason pursuant to this paragraph A.6, you will not be entitled to any refunds or damages

Travel insurance

We strongly recommend you purchase appropriate international travel insurance at the time you pay your deposit. If you do not purchase travel insurance, you may not be able to recover cancellation charges, medical costs, repatriation and other expenses that may arise if things do not go according to plan.
